Growing list of countries announce airspace closures in protest against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

Germany, Italy and France have become the latest European countries to ban Russia’s aircraft from their airspace, forcing the country’s passenger planes to take increasingly circuitous routes to their destinations.
The Italian prime minister’s office said it had decided to close its airspace to Russian aircraft, the German transport ministry put in place similar restrictions for three months, and France’s minister for transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, announced a ban that would come into force from Sunday evening.
