Rishi Sunak ‘up for the fight’ as Tories continue to lag in the polls

PM renews promise to cut taxes a day after revelation that he paid effective tax rate of 23% on his £2.2m income

Rishi Sunak has said he is “up for the fight” as the Conservatives continue to lag far behind Labour in the polls.

In an interview with the Times, the prime minister said hard work ought to be rewarded with tax cuts and that he would slash taxes as soon as it was “responsible to do so”.
