HelloSelf raises £17m for therapy platform

Digital health platform HelloSelf, which provides access to clinical therapies, has landed $20m (£16.6m) in a Series B funding round led by Octopus Ventures.

London-based HelloSelf uses AI to match patients with therapists and to calculate the impact of recommendations. It also provides access to clinical psychologists, counselling psychologists and CBT therapists.

“HelloSelf is about giving everyone access to the personalised psychological advice they need,” said Charles Wells, founder of HelloSelf.

“There are over 1.2 billion people who are underserved globally so with this investment and the trust of our network we can accelerate HelloSelf’s impact across the UK and beyond.”

Octopus Ventures joins OMERS Ventures, Mantaray, and Oxford Capital in the HelloSelf Series B round.

HelloSelf will spend its additional capital on expanding its team of healthcare professionals.

Founded in 2018 by Wells and clinical psychologist Dr Rumina Taylor, HelloSelf’s round follows its £5.5m funding round in March 2021, led by OMERS Ventures.

Kamran Adle, principal at Octopus Ventures, said: “Having known Charlie and the team for almost three years now, we’ve long been supporters of HelloSelf’s mission to help people be the best version of themselves by improving their mental wellbeing.”

Venture capital firm Octopus Ventures, an active investor in the UK tech startup ecosystem, earlier this month backed UCL spinout Intrinsic.
