FrontM raises £1.2m for maritime connectivity software

FrontM, a startup developing software services for ships, has secured $1.5m (£1.2m) in a pre-Series A funding round.

The company was founded to increase the communication and connectivity capabilities of maritime operations. Ships using the FrontM app can access features including video conferencing, tracking and monitoring, and remote assistance that connect those in offices to those out in the field.

“Since our Covid-pivot, we evolved our maritime-focused product roadmap and completed a range of initial rollouts,” said FrontM co-founder and CEO Kiran Venkatesh.

“I’m hugely excited to have the backing of eminent maritime investors who share our vision and are equally passionate about digitally empowering people.”

The funding round came from Jenson Funding Partners, along with Tradeworks.vc, Motion Ventures, and a syndicate of industry angels.

“[FrontM’s] understanding of the communications and efficiency challenges within the maritime industry and the solution that they’ve built to remedy that is exceptional,” said Jeffrey Faustin, a partner at Jenson Funding Partners.

“The industry is vital to global transport and productivity – and businesses have been in need of a platform that solves these problems.”

The company will use the new funds to accelerate the development of its connectivity solutions for maritime and mobile workforces operating in remote and low-bandwidth environments.
