Georgia’s high-stakes Senate runoff races were on a knife-edge on Tuesday night as election results poured in, with control of the US Senate, the scope of the Biden administration and the future of the Republican party all teetering in the balance.
By 10pm the state’s election officials had managed to count more than 80% of the vote, bringing the enormously consequential ballot to a head much more quickly than the torturous November presidential race that took days to call.
