Fears grow of Covid outbreak at former Kent barracks which houses asylum seekers

Dozens of asylum seekers are quarantining in a block at a former military barracks in Kent due to a suspected case of coronavirus, the Guardian understands, following repeated warnings about the crowded and unsanitary conditions at the repurposed site.

One of the red-brick blocks at Napier Barracks near Folkestone, which houses about 30 asylum seekers in dormitory-style conditions, has been sealed off with black and yellow tape and the men inside have been told not to leave.
