Stuart Delivery gets access to Vok electric bikes for speedy London deliveries

Tannin-based electric cargo bike provider Vok Bikes has entered a partnership with European same day-delivery company Stuart Delivery. Under this deal, Stuart courier partners will be able to use Vok’s electric cargo bikes in London via a short-term rental model without requiring any prior financial commitment.

Voks’ bikes will be available for Stuarts’ couriers in Croydon and the surrounding areas of South London and across London by the end of 2022. The partnership aims to reduce the emissions of Stuart’s rapid deliveries.

Vok’s weather-resistant and all-electric and comes equipped with built-in cargo compartments for making multiple deliveries.

Founded in 2015, Stuart Delivery is one of many companies operating in the UK’s competitive rapid delivery and logistics market. However, where startups such as Getir and Weezy aim to deliver groceries within 15 minutes, Stuart connects businesses with its fleet of independent couriers to deliver a range of cargo.

The company now has 600 employees and operates in more than 100 cities across five countries.

Last month, Stuart Delivery partnered with British high street pharmacy Superdrug to provide two-hour deliveries.

Julien Weyl, head of sustainability at Stuart, UK, said: “Accelerating the transition to low emission vehicles is crucial to reducing our emissions, however couriers on our platform own their own vehicles and are often constrained in their ability to switch to using electric vehicles. Through partnerships with companies equally committed to sustainable mobility, like Vok, we are able to combat this barrier and make it easier for couriers to do so. This will not only contribute to lowering Stuart company emissions but also enable couriers to reduce their own personal carbon footprints too.“

Stuart added that it’s establishing relationships with charging infrastructure providers and financial partners. This is being done to incentivise and support couriers’ transition to electric vehicles, the company notes. Vok, citing its own research, claims that electric bikes deliver 40% higher cost-efficiency compared to deliveries by car.

Indrek Petjärv, CEO and co-founder of Vok Bikes, said: “Vok Bikes enables delivery platforms to increase efficiency in the booming and super-competitive delivery market, making attracting couriers easier, enabling better working conditions and leveraging a business model that has a great fit with courier lifestyle. We welcome Stuart as an invaluable partner in a mission to make sustainable and efficient last-mile delivery widely available across Europe.“
