France police shooting: second night of unrest as protests over teenager’s death spread

Clashes reported from Lille in the north to Toulouse in the south after police shooting of 17-year-old in Nanterre during traffic stop

Protesters launched fireworks at police and set cars ablaze in the suburb of Nanterre outside Paris for a second night, as unrest spread across France following the fatal police shooting of a 17-year-old boy during a traffic stop.

On Wednesday night, a trail of overturned vehicles burned as fireworks exploded near police lines on Nanterre’s Avenue Pablo Picasso. Police also clashed with protesters in the northern city of Lille and in Toulouse in the south-west.
