Aviva leads £1.1m round for medical care platform HealthKey

HealthKey, a digital platform for users to manage healthcare treatments and services from a variety of sources, has raised £1.1m in a round led by insurance giant Aviva’s venture capital arm.

The startup’s platform presents a variety of health and wellbeing products and services. Its portal combines employer health budgets and insurance benefits with salary sacrifice and self-pay options.

Services available on the platform include preventative healthcare, weight loss, mental wellbeing support and nutrition.

“We’ve been driven by a singular mission to unlock and simplify access to everything you need to live a healthier life, which requires a shift in how health and well-being services are provided and paid for and means putting the user in the driver’s seat and giving them more control,” said HealthKey co-founder and CEO David Joerring.

“By creating an integrated network of health providers and payers, we can improve access to personalised health services, particularly in traditionally underfunded and underserved areas, such as early diagnosis, women’s health, mental health and neurodiversity.”

Alongside, Aviva, additional funding for the round came from Ascension, Oxford Capital, and Cur8 Capital.

“HealthKey’s platform simplifies the way companies can provide vital health and wellbeing benefits to their people, making it easier and quicker for employees to access personalised services that they truly want,” said Ant Barker, director of venture capital at Aviva Ventures.

Barker said Aviva’s investment would also give the firm “valuable insight into new trends and services for customers”.

HealthKey said it will use the new funds to secure new integrations with health and life insurers, health plan providers, and corporate employers.
