The UK environment secretary, Thérèse Coffey, has ordered officials in her department to cut ties with Greenpeace indefinitely, after activists from the charity staged a protest on the roof of Rishi Sunak’s home.

Civil servants working in the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) were instructed to cease any planned meetings or communications with the environmental campaign group until further notice.
