Junior doctors in England to stage four-day strike in August

BMA announces latest action beginning on 11 August in dispute over pay and conditions

Ministers are under fresh pressure to resolve the NHS pay row after junior doctors announced they will stage a four-day walkout next month that is likely to lead to thousands more cancelled operations.

Rishi Sunak, the prime minister, and Steve Barclay, the health secretary, have so far both repeatedly stuck to the line that the government’s pay offer of 6% is “final”.
