Laundryheap cleans up with takeover of French rival Wast

British laundry and dry cleaning service Laundryheap has acquired French rival Wast for an undisclosed sum, marking its third acquisition in 14 months.

The acquisition of Paris-based Wast gives Laundryheap access to the French market. The company, which offers laundry and dry cleaning within 24hrs delivered via electric bikes, says it is now active in 11 international markets, including the US, Singapore and the UAE.

Deyan Dimitrov, CEO and founder of Laundryheap, said: “The Wast team has built a solid business and generated strong customer buy-in across Paris for on-demand laundry and dry-cleaning.”

Before Wast, Laundryheap acquired UK rival Laundrapp and took over the consumer operations of Oxwash, which raised £10m in August last year for its space-influenced washing technology.

Launched in 2014, Laundryheap now employs 130 people and has received £10m in investment to date, with £2.5m of that coming in a Series A round in March 2021. The company bootstrapped for the first three years.

Following the merger, Wast’s branding will be removed by the washing service and take on its team of seven.

It works with businesses including Holiday Inn, Premier Inn, JustEat, Ibis, and Best Western. Headquartered in London, Laundryheap is also available in Coventry, Birmingham and Manchester.
