More than 100 aspiring and existing venture capital firms (VC) have joined the latest cohort of Newton, a training and networking project from LocalGlobe, London Business School (LBS) and founding partner SVB UK.
The Newton Venture Program, which was first launched in 2020, has brought on 68 up and coming VC professionals to join its digital programme designed to kick start careers in the industry.
“As an aspiring climate tech VC, I applied for the Fundamentals Program based on the strong recommendations of Newton alums,” said Elzan Godlewski.
“At its heart, so much of VC is about the love and practice of learning and building connections – and Newton offers both in spades.”
Additionally, 34 people have been selected for the in-person fellowship programme for people already working in VC-aligned industries to help them reach the partner level.
“Having been in the venture ecosystem for a while, I heard about the Newton Fellowship from the first cohort and how much of a value add it was to them.
I decided to apply and am very excited to learn from both the cohort of experienced individuals and the veterans of the industry-leading sessions.”
Newton has stressed the importance of diversity for its cohort, with the 102 new participants representing 53 different nationalities.
“Our mission is to give people from typically overlooked or underestimated backgrounds the tools they need to not only get their foot on the VC career ladder but to also climb the rungs,” said Eleanor Kaye, executive director of Newton.
“Our latest cohorts are fizzing with energy, ideas and enthusiasm; they are the next generation of investor talent. We can’t wait to see them thrive in the years to come.”
