UKTN Podcast: Greyparrot CEO on tackling ‘relentless’ rubbish with computer vision

Joining the latest episode of the UKTN Podcast is Mikela Druckman, CEO and co-founder of AI waste analytics company Greyparrot. During the show, Druckman explains how her company uses AI to identify and sort through “mountains” of waste, why legislation is key to reducing rubbish, and discusses the crackdown on greenwashing in the packaging supply chain.

London-headquartered Greyparrot was co-founded by Druckman, Ambarish Mitra and Nikola Sivacki in 2019. The company uses computer vision technology to analyse and sort waste into the right categories at waste facilities.

It has raised more than $17m in funding and counts waste management companies such as Suez and Biffa among its customers.

In the latest in a series of conversations with founders of high-growth UK tech companies, the Greyparrot chief tells UKTN Podcast host Jane Wakefield about the business model behind AI waste management, and why consumer pressure on businesses alone isn’t enough to reduce volumes of rubbish.

Elsewhere on the show, Druckman explains the technology underpinning her company and why it’s called Greyparrot.
