Far-right protesters clash with police at Liverpool hotel housing asylum seekers

Three people arrested as eyewitnesses say police van set on fire and counter-protesters surrounded

Disturbances have broken out in the Knowsley area of Liverpool after several hundred demonstrators from the far-right group Patriotic Alternative protested against asylum seekers who have been housed in a local hotel by the Home Office.

Merseyside police said three people had been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
