Funding Circle hires Greig McEwan as CTO

Lending platform Funding Circle has hired Greig McEwan as its latest chief technology officer (CTO) to front its “multi-product platform expansion”.

McEwan joins the fintech from his interim position as CTO for digital freight platform sennder. Before this, he worked as a technology strategy consultant for WorldRemit and CTO for Paddy Power Betfair.

Greig McEwan, CTO, Funding Circle, said: “I’m excited to develop Funding Circle’s technology, building on the excellent foundations that have already been laid and taking it to the next level.

“Becoming a multi-product platform that serves a direct and embedded audience will drive meaningful business growth and help more small businesses not only borrow, but pay and spend as well.”

Funding Circle combines publicly available data and bespoke data on a business’s ability to repay borrowed cash, providing an automated decision in as little as nine seconds.

In June, Funding Circle hired a former Revolut executive as its managing director.

“Technology and data is the crux of everything we do, and our next phase of growth is all about building scale and transforming the business into a multi-product platform to help more small businesses get the funding they need to win,” said Lisa Jacobs, CEO, Funding Circle.

Founded in 2010, Funding Circle was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2018 at a valuation of £1.5bn.
