Free e-scooter passes available for Slough Borough Council social care workers

Neuron Mobility is one of the leading e-scooter operators in Australia and New Zealand is different from the others by providing safe and sustainable operations in cities. It has been offering free monthly passes to all NHS Emergency Service workers in Slough from 4 November 2020. Now, the micro-mobility operator announced that they are expanding their free-pass initiative in Slough.

Covers social care workers

Neuron Mobility, the micro-mobility operator founded in 2016 by Zachary Wang and Harry Yu was running all through the national lockdown and tier 3 restrictions in Slough. NHS workers have been using Neuron’s e-scooters to commute safely to their work and carry out their essential roles. Since December 16, the e-scooter rental trial has been expanded to include all Slough Borough Council social care workers as they play a major role in caring for vulnerable and elderly members of the community.

Zachary Wang, CEO of Neuron Mobility said: “Neuron remains absolutely committed to doing what we can to provide safe and affordable transport options to those working on the frontline of the COVID-19 response. We have been really pleased to see so many NHS and Emergency Service workers taking advantage of the free passes so far and it is great to now be able to offer free passes to social care workers too, in recognition of the equally important role they have to play.”

Cllr Rob Anderson, Slough Borough Council Cabinet Member for Sustainable Transport and Environmental Services, said: “It is great to see Neuron expanding their free passes to all social care workers employed directly by Slough Borough Council. At this time of year, the role social care workers play is more important than ever so it’s fantastic that they will be able to take advantage of this socially-distanced form of travel as they carry out their essential work.”

How to get free monthly passes

The social care workers who work directly for Slough Borough Council can activate the free monthly passes easily via the latest version of the Neuron app. It is touted to be user-friendly and available on both Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The registration on the app will take only a few minutes. After this, users need to visit the Rates & Passes page and verify their work email address to redeem free or discounted monthly passes. On getting the pass, a Neuron e-scooter can be unlocked and used immediately for up to 90 minutes per day for a month.

This announcement from Neuron Mobility coincides with that of the expansion of e-scooter riding area, which will include the Manor Park area from January 2021. Also, additional parking bays will be added to enable sustainable and convenient travel in the area.

Safety measures for commuters

All through the lockdown and tier 3 restrictions, Neuron operated providing residents with safe and socially distanced alternatives to public transportation. Neuron’s dedicated safety team continues to help keep e-scooters and their integrated helmets clean and germ-free by using hospital-grade antiviral disinfectant. Also, they move e-scooters to where they are needed most, help new riders with the sign up process on the app and deliver practical tips for safe riding.
