Incident.io raises £24m for Slack-based management tools

Workplace management software provider Incident.io has raised an additional $28.7m (£24.15m) in a Series A funding round that has brought the total of funds raised by the company to $34.2m.

Taking a slightly different approach to remote working management software, Incident.io’s platform is run entirely through the US unicorn Slack’s flagship software.

By integrating Incident.io into Slack, companies can flag incidents, trigger workflows, share updates and in general boost co-worker communication capabilities.

The London-based startup’s Series A was led by Index Ventures, with participation from Point Nine, Mike Krieger – co-founder of Instagram – and Mantis VC.

Incident.io closed a $5.5m seed round earlier this year, which was announced alongside the Series A investment.

The new cash will go towards international expansion, with the company’s sights set on the opening of an office in New York.

Along with international growth, Incident.io plans to grow its London team. The startup is aiming to jump to 50 employees by 2023, from its current headcount of 29.

“We wanted to be able to take bigger bets, more quickly, and more safely,” said co-founder and CEO Stephen Whitworth on the company’s ambitious growth plans.

“We raised this round in response to the growing demand that we were seeing from customers.”

The co-founders of Incident.io – Stephen Whitworth, Chris Evans, and Pete Hamilton – met as employees of the challenger bank Monzo, where Evans had built an open-source tool to boost the efficiency of the company’s workflow.
