Creator platform Contact backed by Game of Thrones star in £3m round

Contact, a software platform that helps creatives such as models and photographers access job opportunities, has raised £3m in a funding round backed by Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams.

Contact will use the seed capital to develop product features and for expanding the platform to different creative verticals.

The London-based company provides a single place for brands to source, book and communicate with creative talent.

For creatives, Contact gives booking, scheduling, payment and communication tools that remove the need to go through an agent or manager.

The funding round was led by Vancouver-based VC firm Rhino Ventures. Further capital was invested by Founders Fund and Riverside Ventures, alongside Creator Ventures’ Sasha Kaletsky and Cameo co-founders Steven Galanis and Martin Blencowe.

“Partnering with Rhino Ventures marks a significant step toward our vision of empowering creatives to drive their own distribution and monetisation,” said Reuben Selby, founder and CEO, Contact.

Founded in 2020 by Selby, Contact previously raised £1.4m in a round led by Founders Fund.

“In early-stage investing, we look for founders who are passionate about solving big, complex problems that they have experienced themselves,” said Pippa Lamb, advisor and previous investor, Contact. Lamb is also a partner at Sweet Capital.

“Reuben spent years looking for a technology solution to the antiquated talent booking space and couldn’t find one. Now, he is building it himself,” added Lamb.

Rhino Ventures funds high-growth technology startups and has $170m (£136m) under management. Contact is Rhino Ventures’ third investment inside of its $120m (£96m) Fund 3.

“Contact’s solution empowers creatives and brands to find success in an industry that largely neglected them. By providing a scalable platform for creative talent to manage and grow their businesses, creatives worldwide can focus on what they do best,” said David Hogarth, partner, Rhino Ventures.

Prior investment for Contact has come from the likes of Depop founder Simon Beckerman, SoundCloud co-founder Eric Wahlforss, and Jason Calacanis.
