Average salary: £65,599
Java is used widely, particularly by large organisations so java developers are always in high demand. As this is such a varied field, their daily roles can be different from one company to the next, but their role will usually include owning a particular application or working on a few applications at one time.

Cloud architecture is a relatively new entry to the list, but its rise to prominence has been determined by a skills shortage in this field. In a nutshell, a cloud architect is responsible for overseeing a company’s cloud computing strategy. They are responsible for developing cloud architecture, crafting a cloud strategy, and cloud management and monitoring.
