The UK will phase out imports of Russian oil by the end of 2022 and is exploring options to ending gas imports, the energy secretary Kwasi Kwarteng has confirmed.

The decision echoes a move by the US, with President Joe Biden announcing he will end Russian oil imports. It also came as Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky prepared to address the House of Commons.
