Award Winning Moovit App Now Available on Huawei AppGallery

Huawei, the leading global technology company, has announced its partnership with Moovit, an Intel company, a leading Mobility as a Service (MaaS) solutions provider and the creator of the #1 urban mobility app. Huawei is adding the award winning Moovit app to its rapidly expanding AppGallery, providing consumers in the UK with an easy guide to travelling around thousands of national and international cities via any mode of transport.

Already in use by over 865 million people in 3200 cities across 106 countries, Moovit’s free urban mobility app combines information from public transport operators, micro-transport operators and transport authorities, with live information from the user community. As a result, the app provides an accurate, real-time picture of the best route for any journey with urban mobility options such as bus, metro, train, bikes, e-scooters, car-sharing, ride-hailing, and more.

Moovit also provides users with multimodal journey planning, real-time arrival information, so users know exactly when their bus or train is arriving; a Live Directions feature with Get Off Alerts to provide step-by-step guidance for the entire journey; and Service Alerts so they can avoid disruptions on frequently used lines and plan their journey accordingly. The app also incorporates accessibility features, empowering people across the disability spectrum to use public transport with more assurance. The app is optimized with screen reading features for blind and low vision users, identifies wheelchair-accessible routes and stations, calculates step-free routes, and is equipped with optimized menus and buttons for those with hand-motor disabilities.

Moovit has been proactive during the global COVID-19 pandemic, providing accurate and reliable transport and urban mobility data to users, even while transport changes have been happening at lightning speeds, with support from Moovit’s Mooviter Community of 700,000 local ‘editors’ that map and maintain local transit information in cities that would otherwise be unserved.

Wang Heng, Vice President, Global Partnerships and Eco-Development at Huawei Consumer Business Group, CEE and Nordics, said: “As the leading urban mobility app, Moovit is a fantastic addition to the AppGallery and fully inclusive so everyone can use transport with confidence. Even amid the constantly shifting situation due to current safety measures, our customers can enjoy superior wayfinding wherever they happen to be. They will also benefit from Moovit’s commitment to helping communities become cleaner, safer and better to live in.”

Huawei will be providing the Moovit app to users in more than 100 countries and in 45 languages. As well as public transport there will also soon be ride-hailing provided by Bolt, Europe’s leading transportation company which recently joined AppGallery, and other travel options such as station-based bike-share systems, dockless bikes and scooters.

“Moovit’s mission from day one has been to simplify urban mobility around the world,” said Yovav Meydad, Moovit’s Chief Growth and Marketing Officer. “The integration of Moovit’s multimodal journey planning and navigation app on Huawei smartphones will help make daily life a little bit easier for millions. By being able to efficiently and conveniently plan and navigate public transport journeys with real-time information, Huawei customers will be able to get around cities and conveniently and with confidence. ”

Moovit, which, in addition to the app will also be available in customised format in the Huawei browser, is the latest in a wide range of apps in the travel category that have been added to AppGallery such as Booking.com, eSky, Omio, Skyscanner or Turkish Airlines. It exemplifies the company’s commitment to providing high quality solutions that provide customers with a unique and smart experience. The addition of Moovit to AppGallery also reinforces Huawei’s determination to deliver apps that have local relevance to users and which come with additional user benefits such as exclusive vouchers, promotions and free gifts. Moovit and Huawei will be collaborating on in-app promotions for Moovit users and more will be announced soon through the app.
To download the Moovit app, users can visit AppGallery available on any Huawei smartphone.
