Wirex announces the ‘Women in Crypto Power List’ for 2021

We recently announced our partnership with Wirex, the leading digital payment platform, for this year’s ‘Rising Women in Crypto Power List’, and now the longlist is finally revealed. It identifies some of the most inspirational women making a distinction in the world of cryptocurrency. Further, the list consists of over 200 entries and shines a spotlight on the extensive and diverse roles these women perform within the crypto sector.

Women from DeFi, legal & compliance, journalism, graphic design, marketing, and coding sectors are a part of the list. Additionally, women from over 50 countries were mentioned, including the UK, US, Brazil, India and Singapore.

The Women in Crypto campaign

The ‘Rising Women in Crypto Power List’ is part of Wirex’s wider ‘Women in Crypto’ campaign. The list aims to showcase some of the most notable accomplishments of women in the crypto sector. The tech sector and the cryptocurrency sectors are stereotyped to be male-dominated. Still, there are countless women involved too, who are pushing the development of crypto and inviting women to experience the benefits of this new digital economy.

The 2021 ‘Power List’ was launched in September at a live event at tech accelerator Level39 in London. The event wherein the list was announced was ‘Women in Crypto: Tech, Innovation & Digitisation’, and it featured six female leaders talking about topics ranging from DeFi, payments to NFTs.

The panellists delivered unique insights and information on women’s exciting roles in crypto, regardless of background or experience, inspiring the future generation of female leaders and entrepreneurs.

Power List to be released soon

The final Power List with its ten winners is set to be announced on November 11. The winners are currently being decided by the recently announced judging panel, which consists of five highly experienced crypto experts that have a deep-rooted passion for the initiative.

The panelists include George Coxon, Director of the Nano Foundation & Appia, Amy Barker, Global Head of People at Wirex, Hedi Krueger, Director of Digital & Innovation at Mastercard, Ria Shetty, Ambassador of the European Women in Payments Network, and Ada Vaughan, Growth & Partnerships at the Stellar Development Foundation. The top 10 women in the final list will be decided based on those who demonstrate the highest achievements, potential, influence, ambition, leadership skills and innovation.

Lottie Wells, Senior PR & Events Manager who is playing a vital role in managing the Power List expresses, “The variety of roles and number of entries to the Power List this year once again shows the huge range of opportunities there are for women to get involved in the crypto sector. It’s an honour to celebrate all the women included and use Wirex and UKTN’s networks to spread awareness of this important message. I can’t wait to work with the judges to finalise the top 10 women on the shortlist.”
