Yorkshire Tech Company, Glean, Is Accepted Onto The Tech Nation Upscale Programme

Leeds based EdTech company, Glean, has today announced a partnership with Tech Nation as they are officially accepted onto the prestigious Upscale programme.

Upscale is an established 6-month programme aimed at accelerating the growth of successful UK scaleups. Delivered by the team at Tech Nation, and entering its sixth year, the programme has built an incredible network of over 160 alumni including Monzo, Deliveroo, Bulb, Improbable, Just Eat and Bloom & Wild.

Tech Nation’s 845 alumni companies have gone on to raise over $28bn and employ over 50,000 people in the last 6 years. Glean’s acceptance into the prestigious programme is a positive reflection of the company’s contribution to technology and education.

Glean is an inclusive learning technology app that empowers students of all abilities to take meaningful audio notes with a proven note taking process. It’s the antidote to information overload for improved learning, productivity, and student success. Having begun in Leeds, Glean now supports 100,000s of learners at over 500 universities and colleges, including the world’s most prestigious institutions. Users have reported grade increases as high as C- to A.

Dave Tucker, Founder and CEO of Glean, said: “Being selected as one of the thirty-one companies to join Upscale 7.0 means a lot to me personally. Our journey has not been a straightforward one. As a bootstrapped business based in Leeds we have not necessarily had the same exposure as many other tech companies in the UK. For me, reaching this milestone is recognition of what the team has achieved so far. Moreover, it not only creates national awareness of both Glean and its mission, but also of the emerging and growing Leeds tech scene which I am proud to be a part of.

“I’m also excited for people across the business to receive additional support and meet peers in other high-growth companies which brings exposure to new ideas and ways of doing things. I expect it to create a shift in perspective across the organisation. Plus, it will be great to bring our own experience to the group and help others in the cohort achieve their goals.

“And for me, being a participant within a community of fellow founders and CEOs of similar organisations through which I can find support and feedback is going to be invaluable. The importance of community cannot be understated and I am sincerely looking forward to being part of a new one.”
