Opening Doors & Venues hosts event to highlight the importance of hybrid activations

Conference and event management company, Opening Doors & Venues Limited, has hosted its first hybrid event post-pandemic, with the help of award-winning Aldridge event software provider, VenuIQ.

In response to the challenges the event industry has experienced over the last 18 months, the business held an intimate, invitation only event titled ‘Hybrid Event Experience’ on 22nd July 2021 at partner venue Worcester’s Sixways Stadium, offering industry leaders a forum to discuss alternative ways to deliver future events.

80 virtual and 30 in-person attendees joined the event and were invited to experience exactly how hybrid technology works and how it could benefit their events in the future.

VenuIQ implemented its suite of hybrid technology for the activation, including breakout sessions where both in-person and virtual attendees could interact with one another via the bespoke custom app or web platform. The platform also enabled delegates to hear from high profile speakers, interact with live interviews and watch video showreels.

Rose Padmore, founding director of Opening Doors & Venues, said: “Hybrid Event Experience was a great opportunity for attendees to understand the effectiveness of hybrid events, and allowed us to showcase some of the best technology available.

“We had several leading event technology providers showcase their offerings, including Mercian Events, Stone’s Throw Media, Think Big Picture and VenuIQ. All the technology used worked seamlessly together to create an interactive, inclusive hybrid event that worked for both in-person and virtual delegates. We feel the event really illustrated how well a hybrid event can work, and its effectiveness in reaching a wider audience.”

Oliver Rowe, co-founder of VenuIQ, said: “I think I can speak on behalf of the whole of the event industry in saying that the return of live events has been very much welcomed.

“The Opening Doors & Venues Hybrid Event Experience showed the importance and effectiveness of providing a virtual element to events, and why it is something all event organisers should consider.

“When hosting events in-person, it is crucial that organisers consider those who may prefer not to travel due to the ongoing pandemic or other reasons, and that they offer a virtual element.

“To provide a great experience for both in-person and virtual delegates, event organisers need to implement event technology that is fully optimised to support hybrid activation.”

Headquartered in the UK with teams in France, USA and India, VenuIQ offers businesses an easy-to-use platform that enables them to build and publish their own branded native apps and web portals from a browser for events, with features such as tracking, polls, Q&As and event registrations integrated to create an immersive virtual event experience.

The company boasts a wealth of experience in implementing and developing new technology to allow businesses to offer a greater event experience and has helped hundreds of organisations ‘pivot’ their events since the outbreak of COVID-19.
