Colt builds on collaboration with Microsoft to power the next generation of cloud voice

Colt Technology Services, a leading provider of agile, high bandwidth connectivity solutions, has today announced that it is has joined the Operator Connect for Microsoft Teams programme. Colt joins a group of operators that partner with Microsoft to deliver enhanced customer experience and simplified enterprise procurement of voice in Teams.

Operator Connect is a new operator-managed service that brings PSTN calling to Teams. Colt customers can benefit from a fully managed and integrated experience with Teams. This integration includes shared technical support from the resources of both Colt and Microsoft, quality service level agreements and direct peering for enhanced quality of service. Direct peering through Microsoft Azure creates a 1:1 network connection, exchanging traffic directly between the networks for enhanced reliability.

Customers can benefit from flexible and competitive calling tariffs and a single provider for multi-country coverage along with simple setup and management, reduced infrastructure and management costs, enhanced support and quality for their Teams service via the Teams admin portal.

Earlier this year, Colt announced the launch of Colt Cloud Session Border Controller (SBC) – a major move forward in accelerating and simplifying the deployment of PSTN calling in Teams. Cloud SBC, which is part of Colt’s Intelligent Communications solution, is a fully cloud-based solution that removes the need to host any hardware on-premises or in a data centre and enables enterprises to benefit from delivery in a matter of days.

This latest announcement is the next step in Colt and Microsoft’s relationship. The two work closely to create a modern calling experience underpinned by agile, high bandwidth connectivity.

Peter Coppens, VP Product Portfolio at Colt, commented: “The last 18 months have shown that voice services are one of the most important aspects of a company’s infrastructure. An enhanced and streamlined cloud voice service helps power enterprise productivity and agility.”

“We’re pleased that Colt has been chosen as a qualified Operator Connect partner. Together, Colt and Microsoft are enabling the future of cloud voice. Operator Connect is another example of Colt developing deeper and more strategic relationships with its partners – co-creating and co-building to jointly deliver an improved customer experience.”

Taimoor Husain, Modern Workplace Strategy and GTM lead, Telcos at Microsoft commented: “We are very happy to welcome Colt as a partner in Operator Connect. We have been working closely to create a seamlessly integrated, best-in-class and modern calling experience for customers. This is the next step in delivering joint services with Colt that provide deeper integration into the Teams platform.”

Customers can select Colt as an operator and connect calling services via their Teams admin centre.
