Maintel leads the way to a sustainable future with the appointment of one of the first E.S.G Director roles in the UK

Maintel, the cloud and managed services company, today announces the appointment of Joanne Ballard as the E.S.G Strategy and Compliance Director for Maintel Group.

Maintel is one of the first companies of its size to appoint an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Strategy and Compliance Director

Joanne Ballard’s role will span a wide range of areas including environmental, health and safety, CSR, information security, internal governance, and business continuity. This is a brand-new role within the Executive Team at Maintel and the company is one of the first businesses of its size to create such a position.

With more than 30 years in the telecommunications industry, Joanne has significant experience leading customer-focused teams. As a member of the Maintel team since 2008, Ballard has an in-depth knowledge of Maintel and the wider ESG and internal governance functions making her the ideal lead to take drive sustainability initiatives across the business.

The appointment coincides with the news that Maintel has committed to the Science Based Targets Initiative with the likes of TalkTalk, BT, Telenet Technology Services, and Vodafone Group

In addition to ESG strategy, Joanne and her wider team will be responsible for Maintel’s compliance programme, which includes managing more than 120 non-financial regulations and maintaining a range of nominated Accreditations and ISO Certifications, the Maintel policies, procedures, and mandatory employee training.

This new role is part of a wider ESG strategy including Maintel recently being accepted as committed to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) which demonstrates Maintel’s ambitions around climate change and the journey towards a net-zero carbon future. Maintel joins the likes of TalkTalk, BT, Telenet Technology Services, and Vodafone Group in clearly stating its commitment to improving itself and the wider community impact on the environment.

Over the last nine years, Maintel has maintained international standards across everything from security to sustainability and these recent developments are part of its continued commitment to contributing to a long-term future.
