Zortrex appoints Graeme McGowan as Business Development Director

Zortrex, the disruptive data security start-up and developer of Zortrex Token Vault, a unique, secure and scalable tokenisation system, has expanded its team with the appointment of Graeme McGowan as Business Development Director.

With more than four decades of experience in government and security-related posts, and seven years in the cyber security industry, McGowan has held numerous senior directorial roles, and has provided specialist advisory services to both public and private sector organisations. He has been a member of the Zortrex Advisory Board since February 2020.

In his position as Business Development Director at the Edinburgh-based start-up, McGowan will lead sales and client relationship management, develop new partnerships and provide strategic direction to drive business growth.

Zortrex Chairwoman Susan Brown said: “Having worked with Graeme as a member of our Advisory Board over the last few months, we welcome the opportunity to have him as part of our executive team. His intensive knowledge of the security landscape and global regulatory requirements, combined with his expertise in advanced cyber security solutions, will help us to achieve our ambitious growth targets – and strengthen our strategy to become the tokenisation vendor of choice across a broad range of sectors.”

Zortrex Token Vault is a future-proof system that allows customers to remove sensitive data as it flows through their organisation, and ensures companies adhere to global data protection and privacy laws. The technology also helps reduce the cost and complexity of protecting against cyber-attacks and data breaches. Seamlessly integrating with legacy systems and services, Zortrex Token Vault fully protects sensitive information in a secure, NIST compliant, encrypted database. Data is devalued through tokenisation, rendering it useless to hackers if lost or stolen. The platform’s ability to scale and tokenise any type of personal data, such as credit card numbers, bank account details, national insurance numbers, ID, medical records and more, also makes it unique in the industry.

McGowan added: “All organisations, whether public or private sector, have a legal duty to protect the data they process. The most effective and secure way to do this is through tokenisation.I look forward to working with the Zortrex team and their customers to expand the implementation of Zortrex Token Vault, and to continuing the company’s successful journey in the data tokenisation space.”
