AI architecture startup NavLive secures £4m round

NavLive, a startup developing AI scanning devices for architects, property developers and construction firms, has secured £4m in funding.

Developed by academics in robotics research at the University of Oxford, NavLive’s handheld device can scan buildings and generate precise site drawings.

The company said property firms can instantly draw up 2D and 3D building models, eliminating the need for third-party surveyors.

The startup, founded in 2022, operates out of London and Oxford with a team of 15.

“For too long architects and construction professionals have been stuck with complex, slow, expensive, and error-prone surveys,” said Chris Davison, chief executive of NavLive.

“Our AI-powered scanning solution delivers real-time, high-fidelity 2D and 3D scans that no other product on the market can match. We are building the underlying record of truth for spatial data across the entire lifecycle of a building, transforming how the AEC industry works.”

Davison previously founded BigPay, a Kuala Lumpur-based fintech group that has become one of the largest challenger banks in Southeast Asia.

The funding for NavLive came via a £3.3m seed investment combined with a £700,000 grant from Innovate UK.

The investment was led by Oxford Science Enterprises and included participation from SOSV, Oxford Capital Partners, Clearance Venture Partners, AE Works, Britbots and Oxford Innovation Finance.
