Cyber startup Cynomi raises $3.5m to provide SMBs with a ‘virtual CISO’

London-based cybersecurity services provider Cynomi has secured $3.5m seed funding to scale its R&D efforts and expand its presence in UK and US markets.

The investment came from Flint Capital, SeedIL, Lytical Ventures, and a group of business angels, including Nir Giller, co-founder of Microsoft-owned CyberX.

The startup, which provides virtual chief information security officer (CISO) services,  is also set to receive two grants totalling $500,00 from the Innovative UK fund.

Led by ex-Israel Defence Forces cybersecurity veterans, Cynomi’s key target audience is small and medium businesses (SMBs).

Its platform creates tailored cybersecurity solutions suitable for SMBs with the goal of giving them enterprise-level protection.

It uses AI to automate cybersecurity operations and the startup is currently working with telecoms and managed service providers in the UK, Israel and the US.

“Billions of dollars are invested to secure enterprises, while SMBs are left behind,” said David Primor, co-founder and СЕО of Cynomi. “The small and mid-market companies are substantially less equipped to deal with the ever-growing threat landscape – lacking the budget and staff, they are more prone to the devastating impacts of possible attacks.

“We emulate a human CISO, automatically providing IT and cybersecurity teams with a focused assessment and a prioritised remediation action plan.”
