MPs back Covid passes in England amid large Tory rebellion

Boris Johnson has suffered the biggest rebellion of his premiership as furious Conservative MPs denounced new curbs for tackling Covid this winter and fired a warning shot about their unhappiness with the prime minister’s leadership.

Nearly 100 Conservatives defied instructions to support introducing a requirement for people to show Covid passes at nightclubs and large venues across England, leaving the government in the embarrassing position of having to rely on Labour’s support.
