Five teenage boys die in New Zealand’s worst car accident for five years

All the victims were passengers in a car which struck a power pole near Timaru on the South Island

Five teenage boys have been killed in a car crash in New Zealand’s worst road accident for two years.

The tragedy occurred in Washdyke, just north of Timaru halfway between Christchurch and Dunedin, when an overcrowded Nissan Bluebird car struck a power pole, killing every passenger on board.
