I had my vaccine last week and encourage everyone to get theirs. Tens of millions of doses of AstraZeneca have been safely given in the UK. Evidence does not suggest it causes blood clots, as reported elsewhere. Your safety comes first – we continue to review all vaccine reports.

The World Health Organization has said a fund it launched a year ago to draw donations from regular people and companies towards battling the pandemic had raised nearly $250m, AFP reports.

Noting an eagerness among the general public to help, the UN health agency decided to create the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund for individual donations, which it launched on 15 March 2020.
