Discovery comes after police officer charged with murder over disappearance of 33-year-old
Police were scrambling to reassure the public after a serving officer from an elite unit was arrested for the alleged kidnap and murder of a woman on her way home.
Human remains were found in the search for Sarah Everard, 33, the Metropolitan police announced tonight, with the force’s commissioner, Cressida Dick, saying her disappearance from southwest London a week ago in “awful and wicked circumstances” was every family’s nightmare and sent “shockwaves and anger through the public and through the Met”.
