Darktrace co-founder joins ThreatSpike as cyber firm secures £10m

ThreatSpike, an end-to-end cybersecurity provider, has raised $14m (£10.35m) in a Series A funding round that will see Darktrace co-founder Emily Orton join its board.

Founded in 2011, Adam and Kate Blake, a former Deloitte and Accenture analyst and former Morgan Stanley IT associate respectively, ThreatSpike provides firms with a unified platform to replace fragmented security systems.

The company works with more than 200 clients across 90 countries and aims to use the new capital injection to further its growth with new hires in engineering, security operations and go-to-market teams.

“We founded ThreatSpike having witnessed first-hand that achieving high quality cybersecurity protection is far too complex and costly,” said Adam Blake, founder and chief executive of ThreatSpike.

“We are proud to combine world-class technology and expert support into one transparent, flexible solution that delivers true protection without the complexity or hidden costs.”

The Series A round was led by Expedition Growth Capital.

Will Sheldon, a partner at the private equity firm, said:“ThreatSpike has the highest level of customer referral-driven growth and satisfaction that we have seen across the cybersecurity industry.”

“The company has been growing rapidly and profitably without investment and we are proud to partner with Adam and Kate as they fuse software and services into a unique platform that delivers tangible cybersecurity outcomes for sophisticated customers globally.”

Sheldon will be joining the ThreatSpike board as part of the round, alongside Orton, who co-founded Darktrace, a British cybersecurity giant that was acquired by private equity group Thoma Bravo for $5.3bn last year.

“Adam and Kate are both impressive technology entrepreneurs,” Orton said.

“I am excited to join them on ThreatSpike’s board and use my experience to help scale the business in this new phase of growth.”
