Dozens injured as car ploughs into crowd at Liverpool FC victory parade

Man arrested after city centre collision at end of club’s Premier league title celebrations

  • Day of joy for Liverpool turns into one of horror

Liverpool FC’s Premier League victory parade descended into chaos on Monday evening after a car collided with pedestrians in the city centre leaving nearly 50 people injured including children.

A 53-year-old white British man believed to be the driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene of the collision on Water Street in the heart of the city, metres from the Royal Liver Building and the town hall, after roads had been reopened following the main parade.
