Oxford Quantum Circuits appoints Jack Boyer as new chair

Oxford Quantum Circuits has appointed engineering veteran Jack Boyer as its new chair as the firm continues its global expansion and technological advancement.

Boyer, 65, brings a wealth of experience in scaling deep-tech and engineering companies, currently serving as Chair of Royce Hydrogen Accelerator, Bristol University and Non-Executive Director at Bela Holdings AG. He will officially becoming chair of the board on April 16th.

His previous corporate roles include Chairman of Ilika plc and Seeing Machines plc, Senior Independent Director of TT Electronics plc and Elcogen plc and a NED of Ricardo plc, Laird plc and Mitie plc.

Boyer was recognised with an OBE in 2015 for his contributions to science and engineering.

Gerald Mullally, Interim CEO of OQC, said: “OQC has been on an incredible trajectory over the past 18 months, and Jack’s appointment is a testament to our ambition and momentum. His extensive experience and leadership will be instrumental in driving our next phase of growth.”

Boyer added: “It is a privilege to join OQC at such a pivotal time. Quantum computing has the potential to transform industries worldwide, and OQC is at the forefront of this revolution. I look forward to working with the Board and leadership team to build on the company’s successes and accelerate its impact on the global stage.”

In 2023, OQC raised $100m in a funding round led by Japanese venture capital fund SBI Investment.

The firm’s most recent accounts show it had 79 staff and had racked up losses of £23m.
