Cloud Gateway secures £1.5m as new CEO leads shift to network-as-a-service model

Cloud Gateway has secured a £1.5m investment as part of a strategic shift into the “network-as-a-service” (NaaS) market under new CEO Dan Kline.

Kline has been appointed as chief executive to oversee Cloud Gateway’s expansion of its managed service provider (MSP) business into a full-service NaaS platform that will see its network infrastructure products be delivered as a subscription cloud service.

“I am honoured to take on the role of CEO at such an exciting time for Cloud Gateway,” said Kline, who joined the company as chief operating officer in 2024.

“With this investment and the incredible talent within our team, we are poised to drive forward our vision and lead the industry in delivering innovative, secure networking solutions.

The investment round was led by tech entrepreneur David Webb, who previously founded 6point6, which was acquired by Accenture in 2023. Webb’s investment was backed by a consortium of strategic backers.

Cloud Gateway was founded in 2017 as an MSP, providing network infrastructure management services. As a NaaS business, it will be able to fully provide that infrastructure.

The company works with the public and private sector, with clients include government departments such as DEFRA and HM Courts and Tribunals, local authorities in Essex, Manchester and Norfolk as well as businesses in the health industry including Medix Pharmacy and X-Lab.

According to its latest accounts, Cloud Gateway pulled in a profit of just under £300,000 for the year ended February 2024 with a staff headcount of 35.
