Rishi Sunak has sacked Suella Braverman as UK home secretary after she was blamed for inflaming tensions over Armistice Day protests, immediately replacing her with James Cleverly, the foreign secretary.

A No 10 announcement said Cleverly was becoming home secretary following “the departure from government” of Braverman.
