Tableau launches free eLearning courses to deliver data skills critical for today’s digital workforce

Tableau Software, the leading analytics platform, today announces free online learning to help deliver critical data skills for the digitally driven workforce. The Data Literacy for All eLearning program features seven modules at various skill levels, designed to help anyone upskill, reskill and establish a foundation of data literacy. Leveraging academia and industry expertise, the training modules were developed to help provide employable skills for today’s workforce.

In this COVID-19 economy, where businesses have had to innovate quickly and become more digitally driven to survive, the need for data skills has grown exponentially. Recently, The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2020 named Data Analysts and Scientists, AI and Machine Learning Specialists, and Big Data Specialists as the top three jobs that will increase in demand within the next five years.

“There is no doubt that the past year has brought data to the forefront of both our workplaces and our everyday lives. Global economies now rely on digitally-led, data savvy businesses that are more agile and can respond quickly to changes,” said Dan Pell, Senior Vice President, EMEA, at Tableau. “However, this has created an urgent need for businesses to hire and upskill employees. We’re supporting this need by putting highly employable skills into the hands of people and organisations, wherever they are at in their career.”

The Data Literacy for All eLearning program delivers a curriculum with the aim of helping to fuel the talent pipeline with critical data skills, fostering the next generation of data workers and empowering a more data literate workforce. Among the seven courses available are ‘Introduction to Data Literacy’, ‘Recognising Well-Structured Data’, ‘Exploring Variables and Field Types’, and ‘Understanding Variation for Wise Comparisons’.

In addition to Data Literacy for All, Tableau has been helping prepare the workforce for a data-led future with its Academic program launched in 2011, which offers free licenses for Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep to students and teachers. To date, the Academic program has enabled more than 1.3 million students and educators with free software and resources to students and instructors at accredited academic institutions worldwide.  In the UK, universities participating in the program include:
