Tech West England Advocates launches Hong Kong trade mission

Tech West England Advocates, a branch of grassroots entrepreneur community Global Tech Advocates, is calling on founders and investors to join its trade mission to Hong Kong later this year and explore opportunities within its tech ecosystem.

The group is calling on tech founders and investors from West England and across the UK to join what it’s calling “Mission to Hong Kong – Your Tech Gateway to Asia Pacific”.

Set to take place from 13 – 17 November, the mission is open to founders operating in clean tech, health tech, fintech, AI, robotics, regtech, and smart city tech, as well as VCs and other investors.

“Hong Kong is Asia’s most vibrant city and the ideal place to do business… excellent infrastructure, pro-business policies and strategic location make it the preferred destination, and the best gateway for opportunities across Asia Pacific,” said Richard Lowe, founder of Tech West England Advocates.

“As well as visiting Hong Kong’s Science and Technology Park and Cyberport Tech hubs, our mission is planned during StartMeUp HK 2023 week, which attracts 8,000 delegates from around the world into Hong Kong.”

Lowe said the event will support firms that are looking at Hong Kong as a launching point to expand into the Asian market. He added that the event will include networking and investment opportunities.

Asia is a key region for market expansion for tech startups, something which the UK government has been keen to encourage. The foreign secretary this week announced the creation of a tech envoy role to the Indo-Pacific region to encourage collaboration.
