John Lydon loses out on Eurovision selection as Wild Youth chosen to represent Ireland

Former Sex Pistol came fourth in vote to select country’s entry to the song contest

The former Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon will not represent Ireland in the Eurovision song contest after losing out to the group Wild Youth in a vote on Friday night.

Lydon won plaudits for his song Hawaii, a love letter to his wife, who has Alzheimer’s disease, but trailed far behind the four-piece band from Dublin, who performed an upbeat number called We Are One.
