Former ClearBank CFO appointed by rivals Bank of London

The former chief financial officer of ClearBank Marc Jenkins is set to join a rival fintech firm, the Bank of London, in the same role.

Marc Jenkins, who will be taking the role of CFO at the Bank of London, most recently served as the deputy CFO of Metro Bank, after almost four years heading up the finances of the fintech unicorn ClearBank.

“Marc has a distinguished career as a senior financial services executive and brings a wealth of experience and leadership skills across a broad range of corporate finance, accounting, strategy, stewardship, and governance,” said Anthony Watson, group CEO and founder of The Bank of London.

Founded in November 2021, the Bank of London is a clearing bank that has grown rapidly since its launch.

The Bank of London secured almost $100m in funding one month after its launch, giving it a valuation of $1.1bn.

The hiring of Jenkins follows another high-profile appointment from the Bank of London, which brought on Phil Knight as chief technology officer last month. Knight previously worked for 10x Banking and Lloyds.

ClearBank reported last month that it had made a profit for the first time after bringing its annual revenue to £45.3m. In March, ClearBank raised £175m in a funding round led by Apax Digital.
