Vektor AI, a tech career mentorship platform, has landed $2.5m (£2.1m) in pre-seed capital led by Cherry Ventures and Mosaic Ventures.
Backing also came from angel investors such as Google VP Bradley Horowitz, Ancestry.com CEO Deb Liu, head of workplace and product at Meta Ujjwal Singh, Indeed co-founder Paul Forster, among others.
Vektor’s platform is targeted at tech professionals looking to learn new skills, such as engineering and product. Vektor users enter information on previous jobs, education, ambitions and skills to match them with an appropriate mentor.
“If you want to transition to a new career or learn a new skill, mentorship is the most effective way to reach that goal,” said Anna Buldakova, co-founder and CEO, Vektor AI.
“But, due to the changing employment landscape, finding relevant mentors is harder than ever, especially for startup employees.”
Based in London, the mentors on Vektor AI are either free or paid for. Mentors have experience from companies such as Google, Meta, Canva and Adobe.
Toby Coppel, co-founder and partner at Mosaic Ventures, said: “Millennials and Gen Z are ditching the corporate ladder for remote work, startup roles, and greater flexibility.
“While this has many upsides, many lose out on the benefits of working at a corporate, such as the opportunity to organically build relationships with experienced leaders and access to potential mentors.”
Partners Anna and Victor Buldakov founded the company in December last year.
Other mentor platforms include Guider, which raised £2.4m earlier this year.
