Channel Capital Advisors appoints Ion Fratiloiu as CCO

Alternative investment fund manager Channel Capital Advisors has appointed Ion Fratiloiu as its chief commercial officer.

In his new role, Fratiloiu will be responsible for Channel’s expansion into lending for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), alongside its embedded finance offerings.

Channel Capital Advisors LLP is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The London-based company has managed over $20bn (£16.5bn) in credit over the last 15 years. It provides non-dilutive capital in the form of loans, working capital facilities and securities.

“We’re delighted to welcome Ion to the team. He joins the company at an exciting time and brings with him a wealth of experience in the fintech, embedded finance and digital lending space,” said Walter Gontarek, CEO, Channel Capital Advisors.

In the past Fratiloiu has worked for Deutsche Bank, financial market consulting firm Dealogic and most recently as head of commercial at banking as a service platform Yobota.

Fratiloiu said: “Fintech has transformed consumer finance in recent years, but SME finance has largely been left behind. Channel is going to change all this, combining advanced technology and risk-assessment know-how to bring an incredible embedded SME lending proposition to partners globally.”

Over the last three years Channel has invested in AI, open banking and API technologies to bolster its lending offerings.

In July, Channel Digital Technologies introduced Thomas Wall, Iliyan Yankov, Sam Haim, Alex Dembo and Nikolay Stanchev to the team.
