GoGetters raises £350,000 for premium food delivery app

GoGetters, self-styled as the “Waitrose of delivery apps”, has secured £350,000 of its £500,000 target raise to take on the likes of Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.

GoGetters has already received a six-figure investment from London-based private hire cab and courier company Addison Lee CEO Liam Griffin. According to GoGetters, it is now valued at £5m.

“As someone with first-hand experience of succeeding with a premium challenger brand in a competitive market, I immediately identified with the GoGetters’ mission and level of ambition to be the best in their industry,” said Liam Griffin, CEO, Addison Lee.

Owen Barrow, CRO and founder, GoGetters said: “We don’t want to become like the main three delivery apps, as they are all in a discount-based arms race, grabbing a false economy of customers that are just going where the deals are.”

Barrow also referred to GoGetters as the “premium product” and the “Waitrose of delivery apps”.

The Essex-based platform was founded in 2016 by Barrow and Lee Nicolaou. It delivers to 80,000 customers from 200 independent restaurants across Essex, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

GoGetters recently hired ex BT Ventures employee Simon Wingrove as its CEO.

The startup’s investment comes shortly after Just Eat reported a 1% drop in sales last quarter and mulled selling its US-based food delivery platform Grubhub after buying it one year ago. Earlier this month, Grubhub struck a deal with Amazon to give Prime members free food delivery for one year.

Deliveroo is also having a slice of uncertainty as it recently “paused” hiring in some areas.
