Leeds tech firm Crisp adds more than 50 jobs since the start of COVID-19

Leeds-based tech firm Crisp has grown its headcount to 194 with 56 jobs being created since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in March, in response to increased global demand for its services.

Crisp provides 24/7/365 early-warning risk intelligence for leading brands, global enterprises, and social media platforms. Crisp analyses billions of instigator and influencer signals from the open, deep, dark web, and closed messaging apps. Its real-time Digital Reputation Graph, which is trained on 15+ years of online harm detection, discovers, tracks, rapidly alerts and removes harmful content. 

Crisp’s recent hiring spree has added headcount to an expanding expert global team specializing in linguistics, reporting, psychology, data protection, law, and regulation. As more people have been engaging online during the pandemic, Crisp has seen demand for its services increase and, as a result, is on track to hit an annualised recurring revenue of £26m in 2020, an increase of 60% from 2019. 

The firm protects more than $4.5 trillion of combined market capitalisation for its customers. As a result, Crisp contributes to the safe, daily online experiences of over two billion users, covering an estimated 450 million children. 

Kirsten Brumfit, VP of People at Crisp said of the expansion in headcount: “Increased demand through existing customers, as well as newly-onboarded customers, has led to a need to build a larger team at our global HQ in Leeds. We’ve increased team numbers in every department, with a large number of hires in Human Intelligence. With over 30 open roles presently being hired into, and looking ahead to 2021 with additional international expansion in our sights, the HR team will continue to be busy hiring. I’ve been delighted with how our team has pivoted to home working, and we’ve put extra focus on our remote induction process to ensure we keep that special culture that makes Crisp such a great place to work”.
