Fuzey scoops £3.4m funding for SME and contractor management platform

Fuzey, a London-based platform that centralises small businesses’ communications, payments, marketing, and calendars, has raised €4m (£3.4m) funding in a Seed round.

The round was led by Nordic VC firm byFounders, with Flash Ventures, Global Founders Capital, and Ascension participating.

Prominent business angels, including Stephane Kurgan (Venture Partner at Index Ventures) and Sheel Tyle (Founder and CEO of Amplo VC), also participated.

It brings the total funds raised by the London-based startup to €4.6m (£3.9m).

Founded by Alex Boyce and Henrik Lysgaard Jensen in 2020, Fuzey offers a “one-stop-shop” for SMEs and independent contractors such as plumbers, electricians, and mechanics to grow and manage their businesses and improve their online profiles.

“Local businesses are the backbone of every community, and yet too many have been left behind in this rapidly changing digital landscape,” said Fuzey co-founder and CEO, Henrik Lysgaard Jensen. “That’s why we want to equip every SME with a digital toolkit that allows their company to flourish. We’re on a mission to transform the way that local businesses attract, transact with, and retain their customers, so they can focus on doing the work that really matters.”

The latest funding will enable Fuzey to expand its operation into new markets across Europe and North America as well as grow its team, which currently consists of 10 people.

Alex Boyce, Fuzey co-founder and COO, added: “We’re working to empower service-based SMEs by providing accessible, intuitive technology tailored to their needs. The Covid-19 pandemic changed how we all live and work, and now more than ever local businesses need a tool like Fuzey so they can offer efficient, convenient services to the communities they serve.”

The company’s digital platform helps businesses to manage their communications across SMS, WhatsApp, email, Facebook, and Instagram in one place, understand customer behaviour, manage appointments directly to calendars, send invoices, receive payment, and increase customer reviews.

As a part of the funding round, byFounders investor Sara Rywe and Flash Ventures Partner Lorenzo Franzi have joined the Fuzey board.

Rywe said: “The SME segment has been terribly underserved when it comes to innovation: until now! With simplicity at its core, Fuzey’s all-in-one messaging system is built for those small business owners in need of a time-saving tool to help them streamline everything from customer communication to invoicing.”
