Men&Mice enhances sustainable networking best practices for global enterprise networks

Men&Mice, a key expert in network management, today announced Micetro 10.1, the latest version of its unified DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (DDI) orchestration software, aimed at establishing sustainable networking best practices in diverse and heterogeneous global enterprise networks.

Micetro 10.1, the latest iteration of the Micetro platform, enhances and adds to a number of core features within the product including remodelled access management, improved DDI functionality and features, and open-source documentation for the DDI community.

“Micetro 10.1 is a strong continuation on our path to unlocking sustainable networks for our customers,” said Men&Mice CEO, Magnus Bjornsson. “Building on the foundation of 10.0, we’ve been improving our feature set for enterprise network operators to help them navigate an ever-changing technology landscape. Refining our core strengths and adapting to the changed needs of our customers is an ongoing priority. We built Micetro 10.1 to serve that priority.”

Remodeled access management

Micetro 10.1 arrives with a new role-based access model that correlates with the needs of enterprise network environments in 2021. The access management in Micetro 10.1 simplifies permissions and their configuration, distilling the company’s three decades of experience into a modern solution. Built-in roles are designed to cover the majority of network access needs, with functionality to support less common use cases as well.

“The new access management model will significantly improve usability and oversight, and therefore, the quality of life for our customers,” says Sigfus Magnusson, CTO at Men&Mice. “Modern, diverse networks that are managed with often globally distributed teams need a reliable, intuitive, and secure method to control access to tens of thousands of network assets. Micetro’s new access controls streamline this traditionally byzantine area of management.”

Enhanced DDI functionality and features

Micetro 10.1 delivers upgrades to DDI functionality across the board. Included in the new release are numerous bug fixes and strengthening of the backend components, as well as improvements for features, such as:

  • Smoother Active Directory experience with streamlined management for AD sites and subnets across multiple forests
  • Object and smart folders for better organisation and workflow
  • Improved subnet creation and management
  • Better network discovery processes with SNMP profiles
  • Easier license management
  • Many shortcuts and other quality-of-life improvements

Open-source documentation and DDI community

To coincide with the release of Micetro 10.1, Men&Mice is also opening its documentation repository for the community.

Both customers and the public will have access to the source files of Men&Mice documentation. This will help the expert DDI community to better analyse and discuss Micetro, DDI and sustainable networking.

Open-source documentation aligns with Men&Mice’s strong belief in a collaborative vision surrounding the future of sustainable networking, and in the importance of conversation and in receiving feedback.
