Amdaris partners with Bristol Technology Festival to showcase local tech talent and promote opportunities in the South West

Amdaris, the industry-leading software developer and digital transformation specialist, partnered with the 2021 Bristol Technology Festival (BTF) to explore the opportunities and challenges of the city’s thriving tech and digital sector.

Now in its third year and held between 10th-15th October, Bristol Technology Festival brings together local communities and tech experts to explore a range of topics, including sustainability and digital transformation, and discuss how it impacts the South West of England. The goal of this year’s festival was to highlight how technology is supporting and connecting us in times of adversity. This includes how tech can help best shape our future lives, and how we work and live on both a local and global scale.

At the event, Amdaris hosted a headline session titled ‘The impossible challenge? Finding, growing, and retaining tech talent’, consisting of three individual panels with special industry guests, followed by a networking discussion. Presented by Vlad Nanu and Andy Rogers, Co-CEOs of Amdaris, and Glyn Blaize, the company’s COO, the three panels explored a range of development challenges and the impact of the tech talent shortage. Building and maintaining a great culture was a key theme throughout the panels, particularly how to do this successfully when a company is scaling.

Andy was joined by James Burgess, Senior Talent Acquisition Partner at Ovo Energy, and Ed Boal, Managing Director of Stephenson Law, for the panel titled ‘Building the right team to deliver your impossible software development challenges’.

Panel two – ‘How do you attract and hire the best talent into tech roles?’ – saw Glyn joined by Alan Furley, Director at ISL Recruitment, and Clare Elford, CEO at Clue Computing. The final panel saw Lee Berry, Head of Product at Huboo, and Steve Batt, Head of IT Operations at Chorus, take part in the discussion: ‘How do you grow, nurture and retain your tech teams?’, alongside Vlad.

Andy Rogers, Co-CEO, Amdaris: “The theme of this year’s Bristol Technology Festival couldn’t be more pertinent. The changing face of tech is something that the sector has not only witnessed over the last few years but experienced at incredible speed as a result of the global pandemic. Diversifying the technology sector is of course incredibly important, and we’re proud to be supporting key industry events such as BTF that help businesses to take tangible action towards making their workforces more inclusive and diverse. Collaborating with so many like-minded, local organisations at BTF 2021 is – and always will be – one of our key event highlights of the year.”

Ben Shorrock, Co-founder, Bristol Technology Festival: “We are so pleased with the outcome of the biggest Bristol Technology Festival to date and have received an abundance of positive feedback already. We couldn’t have achieved this success without the support of our admirable community partners and event hosts who are committed to take tangible actions to change the face of tech. Thanks to progressive companies such as Amdaris we were able to offer our attendees ground-breaking and thought-provoking content that generates awareness and inspires others to follow suit. We look forward to collaborate with Amdaris again at next year’s Bristol Tech Festival.”
